Campari orange cocktail

When you need to unwind after a long and hot summer day, nothing beats sipping an ice-cold drink while watching the sun dip on the horizon.

Campari orange cocktail served with orange twists

This is a very basic recipe for Campari orange cocktail. Note, though, that it can be tweaked in a number of ways.

First, depending on how strong or light you want your drink, you can use less or more orange juice. Martha Stewart favors a one-to-one ratio. Second, there are recipes, like Ina Garten’s, that add sparkling water to the drink.

I like the one part Campari with two parts orange juice formula.

No muddling, no layering and no fancy equipment required. You just need fresh orange juice, ice and, of course, Campari.

How to cook gyoza with wings

The process is pretty much the same as pan frying gyoza except for the addition of starch dissolved in water to make a light crust at the bottom. Here’s a fully illustrated guide.

How to use a cocktail muddler

A serious cocktail enthusiast should own a muddler. Not as a bar ornament but as a tool for crushing fruit, herbs and spices. Pulverizing them in a blender just won’t do. Trust me, I learned that the sad way.

Sambal is Indonesian chili paste with countless variants

Chili, or a combination chilies, is the ingredient for sambal, the Indonesian chili paste or sauce which is either cooked or raw. Secondary ingredients vary. Garlic, ginger, shallot, scallions, shrimp paste, lime juice and palm sugar may be added to modify the flavor of sambal.
