I’m not good at making up names of cocktail drinks so I’m calling it orange, pineapple and rum cocktail just to be descriptive. And it can’t get more descriptive than that because those are the only ingredients in this drink. And ice.
How did this cocktail drink happen? The how has a lot to do with the when. I first made it in 2010 when our younger daughter went off to college, and I found myself with more time to experiment not only with recipes for meals but for drinks as well. And, one terribly hot and humid afternoon, this drink was born.
You may want to use vodka though instead of rum. That was my original thought, actually, except that I located the bottle of rum first.
For best results, chill the orange and pineapple juices before mixing in the drink. If you rely on the ice to make the drink cold, it will be so diluted with water by the time it turns ice cold.

- ½ cup pineapple juice
- ¼ cup white rum
- ice cubes
Instructions
- Put the ice cubes in two glasses.
- In a small pitcher, mix together the juices and rum (a cocktail spoon, the one with the long handle, is ideal for this job).
