The exact definition of dumpling is still fiercely debated. Some say a dumpling is essentially boiled or steamed dough. Fried dough, they claim, with or without filling, cannot be dumplings.
Well, this is Asia and we have our own ideas about what a dumpling is and how it can be cooked. Steamed, fried, poached... even fried and steamed. We love dumplings no matter how they're cooked. We enjoy them in soup, as snack, as appetizer and cocktail food.
