Rice & grains

In Asia, a day is hardly complete without at least one meal with rice. For breakfast in the Philippines, rice is often eaten in the form of silog dishes and lugaw (congee). For lunch and dinner, main courses are accompanied by rice.

If you're on a rice discovery journey, start with a guide on how to cook rice (Does rice need to be rinsed? Is soaking required? How much water should the rice cook in?) and congee, and learn to make Chinese-style fried rice, onigiri, pilaf and risotto. Then, pore over the list of recipes in this section for even more ways to enjoy rice.
